4 Steps to Take Regarding Your Medicare Annual Notice of Change

By RetireMEDiQ

Every year, your insurance company sends an Annual Notice of Change or ANOC, which outlines the benefits included in your Medicare Advantage or Prescription Drug plan for the upcoming year. Medicare beneficiaries can expect to receive their ANOC no later than September 30 each year. We strongly encourage you to review this document for awareness and to understand any changes to your plan’s benefits.

Medicare plans have exhibited a strong trend of increasing stability and we expect that trend to continue in 2019, as well as in the coming years. It’s important to note that in 2019, Medicare plans will receive the highest funding from the government in over 15 years. For the first time, non-medical benefits may be made available on some plans, and we anticipate that some plans will include favorable new benefits.

RetireMEDiQ is here to guide you for life and we want you to be informed and prepared when it comes to your healthcare. Below is a list of action items to take before and after you receive your ANOC.

We Recommend That You:

  1. Look for Your ANOC.

Each year in September, your insurance carrier sends an ANOC, which outlines the benefits included in your Medicare plan for the upcoming year.

  1. Review Your ANOC for Any of the Following Changes to Your Plan:

Monthly premium, maximum out-of-pocket expenses, provider visit copays, inpatient hospital stays, and prescription drug deductibles and/or copays.

  1. Rest Assured.

We expect that plans will be as good or better in 2019 than in 2018. This means that the only reason for you to consider a different Medicare plan for 2019 is if your needs have changed.

  1. Watch Your Mail.

As your health plan advisor, RetireMEDiQ will provide you with your personalized 2019 Medicare plan recommendation. If you are happy with your current Medicare plan, we recommend that you remain on your plan for 2019; it will automatically renew.
