September Medicare Must-Knows

Every month, our team updates you on the latest happenings in the Medicare industry. Whether you need Medicare help in Ohio, Kentucky, or Indiana, we’re here to serve as your local advisor for health coverage questions.

This September, many of our updates are about COVID-19 vaccinations, plus must-knows about Annual Enrollment and Medicare education.

Medicare Annual Enrollment Begins Next Month

Medicare’s Annual Enrollment Period begins on Oct. 15 and lasts until Dec. 7. During this window, you can enroll in Medicare for the first time (if you’re older than 65) or make changes to your existing coverage. Any changes made during this time will take effect in 2022.

Read more from our advisors on how to prepare for Annual Enrollment.

COVID-19 Vaccination Updates

As COVID-19 hospitalizations rise across the United States, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has taken several actions to improve access to vaccines.

In-Home Vaccinations

Are you or a loved one unable to leave home to receive the COVID-19 vaccine? If so, a house call may be in order.

CMS recently made it easier for a doctor to come to you. If you have questions about vaccination, we encourage you to talk with your physician about your options.

Booster Shots

Medicare will now cover an additional COVID-19 booster shot for immunocompromised individuals. If you are immunocompromised and on Medicare, you can get a booster vaccine at no cost.

As the pandemic continues, RetireMEDiQ will continue to update you on how your health coverage may be impacted.
